my newsreader is capable of reading all messages complying with the relevant mail / news RFC's, and quite a few besides. hmm, is ROT-13 in those? I can't imagine it not being there, but . . . The only common message format it doesn't handle well is HTML. So how well does rn, news or NN cope with those :o) rn

It doesn't say anything because you're not the final arbiter on newsreaders AFAIK. He is the final arbiter on newsreaders *he* uses, but that's about it. Me, I don't know Agent (Free or otherwise), so can't say. Me, I find SLRN usable and fairly friendly, but then I find vi usable and fairly friendly, so go fig.

I am a Newuser and I would like to get a good, free, Newsreader for my system. I am currently using a web interface and from reading posts here its a good idea to get a Newsreader. I went on Google and was delulged by 100's of sites and got very confused by all the requirements, etc. Soooo.

Thanks Finally, I think that I've found a top little PDA based newsreader. I have an HP iPaq 112. I can view the screen in widescreen (landscape) or portrait mode. In PM it's easy to read the messages. Only pain is that you have to tap the emulated keyboard for replies or new messages.
